Honda scores for Japan

I just want to point out the fact of how the goal scorer for Japan, his name is Honda.

Coincidence?

Honda, Japan...hilarious!

Italy playing like Old Men

The defending champions are not what they were in 2006 in Germany.
The Italians were described as "dinosaurs" by the ESPN commentators.
Could it be a lack of confidence? Is it because they are old-er?

They all look like the have lost a step compared to the uptempoed Paraguay team.
New Wigan Signee, AntolĂn Alcaraz scored off of a set piece in the 39th minute.
After this, the italians lost their 'swagger'.
Did I mention that Italy's Captain (pictured above) Fabio Cannavaro is 37 and definitely on the downward of his career.

After the half, and a switch of keepers due to a hamstring injury of Gianluigi Buffon, hailed as the World's best keeper.
The Italians equalize in the 63 minute due to a poor save by the keeper, Villar for Paraguay. The credit of the goal comes from future captain, De Rossi.

I don't expect Italy to retain their title as champions this year. They are not up to par with the rest of the Worlds soccer powers.

Dempsey shoots, Saved?, GOAL!! The Shot heard 'round the World

After Steven Gerrard's quick goal in the 3rd minute of the first round match between England and the United States of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, many people thought it was over for the US, England has too much power?

Maybe not.

Robert Green thought differently.
The West Ham keeper single handedly let the USA back into the match.
Though Fabio Capello had a difficult choice of who would start in between the pipes. Would it be Veteran David James, Joe Hart and Green.
Obviously Capello picked wrong.

After the shot by Fulham and US star Clint Dempsey, the ball rolled to Green, the Jubalani ball, hit his gloves and moves right past him and crossed the line, a goal for Dempsey.

The Jubulani ball has been criticized by many Keepers in this 2010 World Cup for going 5 more mile per hour in the air, and taking wild bounces.

Green proves that these complaints are real, and the Jubulani ball will stay in the spotlight.

From all USA fans, thanks Robert Green for giving us too mush confidence?

England fans miss Steveie G's goal

Today was a bad day for England soccer fans, especially if they live in England!
First, their Keeper, Robert Green lets the USA back into the game by letting in the Yanks equalizing goal.
But, the didn't even see their teams goal. The British broadcast of the game was interrupted right before Emile Hesky passed to Gerrard for the goal, During the 3rd minute.

What was on? See for yourself...

Yes, they showed a car commercial. What a shame!
Hopefully they'll get it correct for their next game against Algeria.

Spain, 2010 FIFA World Cup Winners

Many believe that the Spanish national team will win the 2010 World Cup, I believe this too. With the powers of the David Villa, Fernando Torres, Xavi, and Cesc Fabregas, I don't think any country can beat the Spaniards. With Casillas in the goal, Spain is going to bring the trophy back to Spain.

Here is a little preview of the Spain 2010 team:

Here come the Lions, England preview

Some say the favorites to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup is England.
Though I don't think they will win, I am definitely rooting for them to make it far in the knock-out rounds. And of course, I love Wayne and Frankie. I expect them to get to the Finals.

Manager, Fabio Capello announced his 23-man roster, here it is:

Barca, Barca, Barca!!

So as most of my readers know, I am an avid FC Barcelona fan. I have been a FCB fan for quite a while now.
They have created quite a stir of news recently. With the signing of Spanish Striker, David Villa. The hopeful inking of Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas. And what to do with Big Bird himself, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Well, here is my take on the situation.

Villa Signing:
David Villa is a phenomenal Striker. He will compliment the passing style of play that Barca uses. He will be used like an Eto'o-esque player up top, and obviously that worked for the Catalan club before.
But some one up top has to go, and its not Messi, Ibra is gone!

Cesc's Return:
Though Arsenal says that their captain, Spanish international midfielder, Cesc Fabregas is not for sale... everyone has a price. Think about how stacked the Barcelona midfield would be. Xavi, Fabregas and Iniesta. Can you get any better then that? I will say it now...they will win La Liga and The Champions League if Cesc returns.

Say Bye Bye Ibra:
With the addition of Zlatan last summer, Barcelona spent upwards of 60 some million Euros and lost Eto'o to Inter. Yes, it would be a waste of money to get rid of him, but can you really play with that many strikers. You'll have Henry and Pedro and Bojan on the bench (that is if Henry doesn't come to the USA). Zlatan definitely didn't live up to the hype when he was signed last year, you got to change it up sometimes. Don't Worry Barca, you will get a lot of money from a team in need of a tall striker. Goal.com reported that Manchester United and City, Tottenham and a few more European powers in soccer are looking at the possibility of signing Ibra. Well, good riddance Ibra, you won't be missed, like all of the goal chances you missed.

The Countdown is on

Nike just released this ad today. It is possibly one of the sickest looking ads (and by sick I mean good sick). Take a look for your self...

I could watch this over and over and over. Whats better then Drogba, Rooney, Ribery?
Why is it that Nike has had so many amazing ads leading up to the 2010 World Cup?
As we all know Adidas is the official sponsor. But expect to see Nike more starting on June 11th.

Comment please!

Qatar, My favorite for the 2022 World Cup

In my sports class today we saw this video introducing Qatar's bid for the 2022 World Cup. It blew my mind. This video alone should scare off any other bidding countries. They sure do have a lot of money! See for yourself...

Happy 62nd Birthday Israel!!

Today, 62 years ago, Israel became a recognized democratic nation. In honor of this momentous occasion, I am going to share with you two of my favorite athletes who are Israeli.

So here they are:

Omri Casspi of the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. Born in Yavne, outside of Tel-Aviv.

Yossi Benayoun of Liverpool in the English Premier League. Born in Dimona, near Beersheba.

Both are tremendous athletes that excel in their sport. One day I hope to meet them, I already got their jerseys!

Lebron, new number, new team?

This is a picture from the future.

The paperwork was filed by King James and processed by the NBA.
Next season, Lebron will be jersey number 6.
He dropped his current number, 23, to honor the legendary Michael Jordan.
With this new change of number comes along speculation of if the NBA's MVP will pack up his Cleveland home and move to another city, maybe New York City?
I believe that if and when James moves teams, the Knicks will be bidding for him.
Its exactly what the Knicks need to be back on top of the NBA.

Tell me what you think...please leave a comment.

Nike's Ribery Ad is awesome, Nike does it again

Wow, Nike does it again. They are possibly the best at creating buzz around their company using advertisement. Check this out...their new Ad featuring Franck Ribery, a soccer player for the French National Team but also the star of Bayern Munich, a German Club team.

Here is the Ad.
It says "Bayern has another King"
But where it was placed is what people are talking about.

Yes, its on a Church in the middle of Munich!
Nike, well done.
